Your child. Your choices.

Indiana School Choice Guide

Public, private, charter, homeschool or online: weigh every path, understand vouchers, and choose what fits your child.

A good choice starts with the whole picture

Your choices include district public schools, charter schools, private campuses, homeschool and online programs. Each offers a different routine, learning environment and level of family involvement. Choice scholarship vouchers help with tuition at participating private schools—not every kind of schooling. Indiana students in K-12 have universal eligibility from 2026-27, with no income cap. Check the Indiana Department of Education’s current requirements and the school’s participation before proceeding.

State scholarship funds go to your participating school rather than into your family’s bank account. Secure admission at a participating school before seeking a Choice Scholarship award. In most cases, that school sends the scholarship application to the Indiana Department of Education for your family.

Another path to consider

Could online learning fit your family?

Compare the daily routine of an online program with learning on campus. Flexibility and an individual pace may suit your child, but teacher support and family involvement matter, too. Some participating private online schools accept choice scholarship vouchers; confirm approval with the school.
